He stood by himself at the group home

He was scared and quite young at age 8

He saw me and smiled when I was his Big Brother

He held my hand and kept a tight squeeze

We would go to the zoo or miniature golf

He would cry when I had to go home

The next time he grabbed on my hand

"I will never let go of your hand

"I want you to be my Daddy"

I adopted him and made him my son

I have never let go of his hand since

Inspired by a friend's story of adoption at age 8

Awe. My boyfriend is adopted. (he is really funny and is constantly making fun of himself though.. it is a weird thing for him so I guess that is how he deals)

He was an infant though. I think with all the crappy news stories around here lately about an adopter abusing his sons it is refreshing to hear some positive happy stuff that men really aren't that creepy.. there really are SOME good guys in the world!!!

There is a big news story in my area right now about it.. make me so sad. I can't even hear those stories. It breaks my soul.

The stories of all the good guys never make the news. It is always the bad ones who do. Remember, the good vastly outweighs the tiny number of bad apples out there. But they sell newspapers so they get all of the press.

We are always bombarded with stories of mothers who kill their own children, but most people know the vast majority of Moms out there are wonderful people.
