They ask me if I am single
I do not know how to answer
I see the empty side of my bed
I see her old jewelry box and make up case
I see her towel in the bathroom
Yet I do not see her anymore
They ask me if I am single
I do not know how to answer
I speak with her every day
I visit her grave every Sunday
I tell her about my day at work
Sometimes I tell her I am home
Forgetting she is not there anymore
They ask me if I am single
I do not know what to answer...

I had been filling out paperwork when the question came up as to whether I was single. I then thought of those who lost someone and get asked that when they show up with no partner. It is a very sad poem that needed to be expressed for all those who lost a partner.
