The Alien Abduction Files had me excited as the claim of the authors are two very good cases with much physical evidence. I will state to most here that I do believe we are being visited and there are some individuals who are being abducted for research by the aliens. Betty and Barney Hill is one of the best cases because of the physical evidence surrounding it. Had they only done the hypnosis, I would be more skeptical of what happened in New Hampshire that fateful night.

We do meet two people in this book (one who is the co-author Denise Stoner) who relate some very strange and eerie tales of abduction. They appear to be quite vivid to the persons and they believe they are real. I am one who will listen and read about these incidents and keep an open mind. However, the book seems to be written to try and convince skeptics this is a real phenomena.

It fails miserably by those standards. There is a confirmation of loss of time by Mrs Stoner, but it can be explained by any number of reasons. I don't care who will vouch they are never late, things do happen and people can be late. It is interesting there was the time loss, but that in itself proves nothing.

We also get a few anecdotal stories of neighbors seeing objects hovering over the houses. Now this is a good thing for the most part, however we do not see any reports, interviews with the persons or other evidence to show this to be the case. Again, we are left to just believe these events had witnesses out there who saw some mystery lights.

The biggest problem is again with hypnotic regression. I do understand a forensic investigator can use it to try and get some details out of a witness. However, it cannot be used in a court of law as it is unreliable. I don't care how many cases were helped, there is a possibility the person is relating fantasy and dreams as fact. Also, these people already suspected they were abducted and that taints the whole hypnotic regression thing. Betty and Barney Hill's regressor had no idea what he was getting into.

So now we have an interesting book that leads us nowhere. We get some very good descriptions of unusual creatures, but most are the pop culture type greys. There is a book about the incident in which a group of young men were abducted and they all had physical conditions that were documented. This book has nothing of the sort.

Also, Stan Romanek gets a mention and that alone puts this whole work in doubt. When an author wants to show a theory and the evidence, it is best to keep all crackpots and hoaxers as far away as possible. The cute little video of that alien popping his head in the window is great for a laugh, but it has been long debunked.

I expected so much more from Ms Marden as she wrote Captured about her Aunt and Uncle the Hills. This one was a major letdown for me. It also would make a good idea for the book club so people can discuss what is needed to make the case for actual alien abductions.

Mercury by any chance did you catch the most recent Whitley Strieber appearance on the Bio special ALIEN INTENT?
http://www.biography.com/tv/biochannel-special/episodes/alien-intent

I enjoyed the second half as they were accounts similar to the book here, however, when they recycled Whitley's abduction encounters (i am not sure I believe any longer..after much more research.) it left me rather stale. If they had picked anyone else I would have been much more satisfied as some new information was introduced. you should see if you can watch it. Over all I give it a c+.

I guess I expected so much more from Ms Marden after reading the excellent book 'Captured'. There are so many other encounters she could of picked and did a book about like the Father Gill encounter in Papas New Guinea. Here is part of that account from one of the sites:

http://www.ufoevidence.org/cases/case67.htm

It happened in 1959 and I am sure many of the teens and younger people are still around to tell what they saw.

Ms Marden is selling the book as evidence to support the abductions going on out there but in the end her evidence is just not there. She was preaching to the choir which is a big problem with the ufology community. They need to step up their game if they want skeptics to really take a look at the subject and not be so dismissive of it.

I will have to watch that show on Bio Alien Intent. It sounds interesting.

I was hoping it was a "running series" but looks like it was a one time docmentary.. slightly badly done as I stated earlier.. I mean how many times can you listen to Whitley go on about being probed? not to mention the gross factor picturing that one!!! No
