Today and tomorrow are cloudy for the Chicago area with Wednesday (the last day for viewing) 'turning sunny'. It figures the weather is not cooperating with me like usual. I have missed most of these events, except for that really bright Moon.

It does look clear for Thursday. Let's hope it stays that way. The last really good comet I saw was Hale-Bopp.

I missed Hale Bopp but i did manage the astroid show back in 2000 on my front porch. It was amazing. Even with the light of the city you could see them all in the sky.

I did witness a fireball once too. It was probably the size of a pebble but it crash landed in the woods behind my old neighborhood. No damage but made a great sound!

That was freaky and cool.

It has been cloudy here every night so I won't be able to see the comet. I did see Hale-Bopp and it was very bright. I also saw that asteroid show as well and it was cool. I have seen many shooting stars, but no bolides (very bright meteorites) or fireballs crash land.
