He raised his glass to me and my pride
With a smile he spoke
It was good of him to ask me to dance
This precious thing
His black eyes hinted at the souls he kept alive under his dark coat
I could see his familiars all around me
Hunting with his axe in hand
And his book of curses
Night does bring shadows
I did not shy away from his darkness
I took it from him

Not a creature not a mouse
Even my ghost kept silent
when he was gone
I crawled back to my bed
white sheets shown blue
as the last of the moon scattered the sky in its gleam
One last nightmare
