Dog Home Alone - not in his kennel

First time ever my pooch will get to stay in the living room and use his area in the basement for relieving himself if need be. I am hoping he does well! I was in the middle of cleaning up his kennel area in our basement and he decided to literally go back to bed. Jumped on the bed and curled up. Then he followed us into the living room and I caught him jumping up on our recliner and then I covered him up and took this photo.

Once they reach a certain age they are usually pretty well behaved inside the house. I want to say three years, but it might be longer or shorter depending on the dog.

When I left my dogs out I had forgotten to crate them up and they were so well behaved they got house privileges while I was at work. They did very well, although there was the occasional accident and eating of a newspaper if I had to stay late at work.

He was very well behaved and this morning he went on his own 3 times to the basement where his crate is and other stuff for him. We said "No boy you can stay up here!"

Only thing that angered me was my darn cat. He peed on the dogs bed and I had to soak it this morning. Just when he was doing so well and not being on his Prozac. Looks like he may have to go back on it for his anxiety issues. The cat has had more room to go all over the house at night and during the day. I may have to confine him in the office if he does it again. I don't like to. Except during feeding time. Usually I keep the gate on my office where the cats have the run of it and it keeps the dog out while they are free to roam back and forth.

Nothing worse than when a cat sprays! I had another night of 3 hours of sleep too. So I was extra mad when I got up.

The cat may be rebelling about the dog being able to roam the house. Some cats have major issues, while others are very laid back. I have four very laid back kitties who tolerate almost anything.
