Wolf Messing: The Real Deal?

Wolf Messing is an alleged psychic who lived in the old Soviet Union and was believed by Josef Stalin himself. I even have his biography and read it a while back. Colin Wilson also wrote about his abilities in detail.

One of his most interesting abilities is to make other people believe something other than what they are seeing. Mr Messing would make others think he was Mr Stalin and get through the toughest security details possible. He could make himself appear to be anyone, from a loved one to a dignitary. This meant if you were speaking to your spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend, it could be some stranger you never met. But you would actually believe you were speaking to that person.

Mr Messing also could read minds, and told Gandhi what color he was thinking. Mr Messing would then go into another room and come out with the item the individual was thinking about. There was no talking, he would just do it.

He went to a bank and gave a blank piece of paper to a teller and asked to cash his 100,000 ruble check. The teller did just that, but Mr Messing did not keep the money.

If all of this is correct, it shows this man had amazing abilities. One of the reasons I think he possibly is the real deal is no one would ever try to fool the leader known as Josef Stalin. The leader was not one a person would want to upset, and he often sent people to their deaths or Siberia during the winter.

The book is called: Wolf Messing: The True Story of Russia's Greatest Psychic by Tatiana Lungin, a good friend of Mr Messing. I recommend people learn about this man, and bring their thoughts over here for discussion of whether they think he was the real deal.

This could be something that the Preternatural Book Club reads. I am still trying to get the rest of my group on here. =0)

It does sound very interesting - kind of reminds me of the Chris Angel guy that everyone raves about from what you described. Yet the reading of minds is fascinating. There has been an on going debate about whether reading minds is true psychic ability or just profiling. Either way anyone that can do that is pretty good in my book. Whether you call yourself a psychic or a mentalist.

From what is said of Mr Messing's abilities, he was reading minds and not asking any questions. He would walk into the room and was met with silence. He would then leave and go into another room and get the item that person was thinking about. That is one of his amazing abilities as he never asked questions or did any leading that other mind readers do.

The book can be found on line and was written in the late 1980s. I have a hard cover book, and it did not cost very much. It is a bit dry in spots, but it will give the group a lot to discuss.
