I wrote both of those poems after seeing so much repression out there of anything sexual. It seems we are moving backwards in many instances instead of forward.

I have never had anything against sex or even those that promote it for health. I don't even care if you are Ron Jeremy or Jenna Jameson just don't promote it toward the under age. But it's my belief even some adult porn between consenting adults is perfectly fine even natural as is masturbation but there are people that take it to a whole other level my motto is good consenting sex is like a massage as long as it's between two grown people. It's healthy to have a healthy sex life. It's exercise and it makes everyone feel good....that has been your hippy lesson of the week

My intention with the poem was to show the feelings of arousal are normal and should not be punished. It seems strange we punish the young, middle aged and even the old for having any type of feelings.

They made some cruel contraptions for parents to force children to wear so they wouldn't do anything impure with their bodies.

As far as the sexual act itself: As I tell my boys it is best to wait for that special someone so they will remember it as a beautiful thing.

They all took that advice and waited instead of giving in to anonymous encounters. They thank me every day for that one.

I was a good kid too. I didn't mess around till I met someone in my early 20's - granted he ended up not being who I thought he was, but I'm glad I never had to worry about things like teen pregnancy or diseases!

Excellent poem Mercury! The way we approach sexuality in western culture is so messed up! Hasn't anyone ever stopped to consider that we learn (even from a young age...hear me out) that our bodies have natural urges and that they aren't dirty or shameful? Knowledge is power, and when we learn about our bodies, and how they relate to our mental/emotional health we can have a generation of thoughtful empowered individuals who may not throw themselves around like they don't matter. It's all about that mind/body connection and if we could understand and be mindful of that, we might be less apt to abuse ourselves, be it through sex, drugs, food, etc. Of course it won't solve all our problems...just a thought I had.

Thank you for those kind words, Goodwitch. In the ancient past fertility was very important and there were many Gods and Goddesses associated with it. Christianity put all things sexual as the work of the devil which never goes over well. Women were the targets of this, especially those who actually were able to own property.
